Message Bashing implies irrationality IMO.

Let me make one observation over Z1's reputation/history, and at the same time remind you and everyone that it is NOT what sparked this whole series of events, nor is it remotely new news to anyone......

A member posts that he bought some expensive part from the classifieds from someone with 700 hits or less, with no real contact info, red flag after red flag after red flag.....and the overwhelming response is "why didnt you do your homework? / Your own fault for being stupid / what didn't tip you off as being a bad idea?"

A member posts that he unnecessarily went to Z1 for whatever, an engine build, parts, a service....and he lays out the horror story......the overwhelming response is that he is the victim, suckered in by Z1. Z1 doesn't offer anything truly exclusive (IIRC?), and the documentation is ALL OVER THE PLACE.

With that being said I have never bought from them, because I had no need to, and I don't have the cash to deal with horror stories or risking not getting my $$ worth. It's that simple.

But this is all irrelevant, they were a sponsor here, offer a huge service to the Z32 community, be it subpar to TTnet standards or not, and the whole FUSS was over knock off parts (that do not violate any patents or laws), and a crusade to presumably boycott Z1 over them.

IMO the way that should have been handled was not through hostile actions and especially not through 3rd party war-waging, but through those actually involved. If it was important enough to them, they should bring Z1 on-board to exclude the AMS knock-offs...make it worth Z1's while to not turn to them.

Maybe it wasn't possible due to production limitations,
maybe they tried and Z1 just didn't care and only saw $ signs,
there could be ALL kinds of things going on that no one here knew about because IT ISN'T OUR BUSINESS, but we'll likely never know the TRUTH now because it almost overnight turned into a personally waged war of assumptions and outside-drawn conclusions by those not involved. And in the end NOTHING was accomplished for the sake of preserving innovation, which was supposedly the heart of the matter.

In fact we still have no real public info (nor are we owed it) over the whole AMS/Z1 "collusion" other than Z1 did something stupid as hell in response to being attacked/censored here for selling AMS stuff.

off topic, but bound to get read....
